WHAT’S INCLUDED IN AN ASSESSMENT?

An assessment involves a 90-minute clinic appointment with a child and their parent/s or caregiver/s, and includes:

Collection of background information;
A comprehensive assessment of the child’s communication skills, oral structures and feeding skills to determine any areas of difficulty;
An individually tailored combination of formal, play-based and informal assessment techniques;
provision of a therapy plan;
Recommendations to support the child, and referrals to other professionals as required; and a summary report.

WHAT DOES THERAPY INVOLVE?

Helen will design a tailored treatment program for your child. Therapy will be evidence-based and engaging, and will usually occur on a weekly or fortnightly basis during school terms. Review assessments will be offered at regular intervals to check your child’s progress, address any questions or concerns you might have, and inform therapy plans going forward.
